Mark R. Heimmel, M.D.

Dr. Mark R. Heimmel graduated with highest honors from Rutgers University and was selected for the prestigious 7 year joint B.A./M.D. program at Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Heimmel went on to complete his ophthalmology training at the Brown University School of Medicine in Rhode Island.

With the exception of his three years of medical residency at Brown, Dr. Heimmel has been a lifelong New Jersey resident. Dr. Heimmel uses state-of-the-art technology in performing premium lens cataract surgery, plastic surgery of the eyelids and face, and refractive surgery including LASIK and PRK.

Dr. Heimmel has published numerous articles in leading medical journals on the latest treatments in medical retina care for diabetic retinopathy and Lucentis treatments for age-related macular degeneration. When not caring for his patients, Dr. Heimmel is an avid tennis player and swimmer. He and his wife enjoy living at the Jersey shore.
