Dry Eye

What Is Dry Eye?

Dry eye syndrome, also known as dry eye disease, is a common condition that occurs when your eyes don’t produce enough tears or when the quality of your tears is poor. This leads to inflammation, irritation, and discomfort, and in some cases, it can affect your vision.

At our ophthalmology clinic, we specialize in diagnosing and treating dry eye with personalized care and the latest medical technologies.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

IPL is a non-surgical treatment for evaporative dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction. It supports gland function by heating and loosening blockages, enabling proper oil secretion. However, unlike RF, which uses monopolar radio frequency, IPL delivers broad-spectrum light pulses that are selectively absorbed by hemoglobin and pigmented structures. This reduces periocular inflammation and vascular abnormalities that contribute to meibomian gland obstruction. Like RF, IPL also enhances collagen production and cellular activity in the treated area, offering both therapeutic and cosmetic benefits.

Radio Frequency Dry Eye Treatment

Radio frequency therapy (or RF, for short) is a non-surgical dry eye treatment that treats evaporative dry eye disease and meibomian gland dysfunction by using radio frequency to heat up and break up blockages within the glands allowing for them to properly secrete oil. The monopolar radio frequency used by RF devices allows for deeper penetration of heat into the skin, ensuring complete breaking apart of any oil blockages. It also increases ATP and collagen production in the treated area, providing cosmetic benefits and boosting regrowth of damaged and atrophied glands.
